The Government of Canada, through Finance Minister Bill Morneau, has set the Budget 2019 date. In a recent statement, Minister Morneau announced that the Government will table its next budget on March 19, 2019.

In the announcement, Minister Morneau mentioned that the Government plans to build on the Government’s previous plan – to invest in people and communities to help the Canadian economy grow for the long term, in a balanced and fiscally responsible way.

Here are some of the highlights of the past year that Minister Morneau mentioned:
- Wage growth for 2018 is on pace to rise at its fastest rate in 8 years.
- Canada is expected to remain among the fastest-growing economies in the G7 in 2019 & 2020
- Over 850,000 more Canadians are employed today than in 2015
- Unemployment rate is near 40-year lows

This announcement follows a record participation in the pre-budget consultations. According to Minister Morneau, more than 1.8 million people were reached during the consultation period and nearly 14,000 submissions and ideas were received.
