Are you waiting for your income tax objection to be resolved? Here is an update on the timelines with regards to the assignment and resolution of income tax objections based on its complexity. 1. The majority of low complexity objections now being assigned to an appeals officer were received in January 2018. Objections resolved in March 2018 were completed in an average of 81 days from the date the objection was submitted. The Auditor General of Canada recently published the 2016 Fall Reports.  One of the reports focused on the process of Income Tax Objections.  The Auditor General examined whether the Canada Revenue Agency was efficient in managing income tax objections – particularly the time the CRA took to provide taxpayers with decisions on their objections and the various stages in the objection process that cause delays.  For income tax appeals, the Auditor General examined how the CRA used and communicated information on court decisions.
