CRA starts Consultations on the Disability Tax Credit this month

by in Canadian Government News and Updates

The CRA recently announced the start of consultations to support the Disability Tax Credit Promoters Restrictions Act this month of November. The Disability Tax Credit Promoters Restrictions Act is a private members bill initiated by Cheryl Gallant, Member of Parliament for Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke. This Act proposes to limit fees that can be charged for helping complete a disability tax credit request, and ensure that more money remains with the persons with disabilities and their caregivers.

The upcoming consultations will aim to provide a venue for Canadians with disabilities, their caregivers, promoters, tax professionals, qualified practitioners and members of the general public to give their feedback on how the CRA can simplify the Disability Tax Credit application process. These consultations will also provide the CRA with feedback that will in turn help the government to develop regulations under the Disability Tax Credit Promoters Restrictions Act.

If you would like to participate in person in these upcoming consultations or submit feedback online, please visit: www.cra.gc.ca/dtcconsultations.

What I do not get is why the government is not setting up a central place covered by CRA helping people to file. There are so many companies taking money from the poorest to line the richest pockets, how is this fair?

Companies charge like a HUGE percentage out of what people get and the cost is NOTHING to the company! People need to learn to file with CRA or alone. I found a step blog article on Hubpages telling me how to file and I succeeded.

So do you charge for it, is this why you have a write-up on it?
